Our love of all things animated has inspired Bells & Whistles. Within the library you'll find many familiar effects which have been heard for decades in vintage film animation, TV stop motion and everything in between.
Speeldoos is Dutch for Music Box. Everyone remembers the small iron concoctions with a little handle from their youth. The ones you would place on a chest, table or any hollow object to amplify its sound (ours played Beethoven's Für Elise). There is something magical about these very simple devices that pulls at heartstrings and conveys intense emotion, oddly from a mechanical source.
We recorded this instrument on location at the Alphorn Centre in Friesenheim, performed by renowned player and Alphorn builder Franz Schüssele. This large Swiss horn is an inspiring mix of nature and craftsmanship, producing silky smooth soft tones and rattling shouts alike. It sounds almost like a very warm brass instrument but has a distinctly quirky origin.

The electro-mechanical piano has been sampled over and over, so why do it again? One reason is that each keyboard has its own specific sound. This particular one, the Mark 2, has been overlooked by many other companies. Its distinctive timbre is perfect for genres from soulful ballads to more modern upbeat styles.

Gediz Coroglu is an amazing Turkish vocalist with a unique voice and singing style. We couldn't help feeling goosebumps during these extraordinary sessions where we captured themes and improvisations in 4 keys and at 2 tempi.

Ancient Greek songs and chants performed the way we believe this time-faded art would have sounded. We teamed up with renowned and 'Greek classics schooled' Miss Veronica Iliopoulou who poured her heart and skills in this project. The result is a captivating mixture of vocals, instruments and drama.
The Qanun is a dulcimer or zither-like instrument of 81 strings stretched over a frame and plucked with the fingers or picks. Its distinctive tone comes from the grouping of strings and we have captured both multi-sampled note and also a wide selection of songs and improvisations.

These phrases would be impossible to create or compose with multi-sampled strings libraries and you’ll never find any other string samples that match the originality and authentic middle eastern style of these performances.
The clarinet, played the Turkish way, is a very versatile and vocal-like melodic instrument. The beautiful and mystic character of this sound will take you on an Arabian journey with both phrase performances and playable multi-sampled legato.
Known as the meditative musical sound of tranquility, the bowls we recorded for this instrument have a magical quality and emit pure frequencies. These quartz crystal glass bowls give off such a lush and dreamy tone that you’re sure to use them more than you imagined.
These are real clock tower bells weighing up to half a ton on the biggest set, expertly dismantled and transported to our studio. They produce a powerful sound that we captured in great detail, including different types of strikes and mallets.
The chime bells of Dutch Amsterdam Standing clocks, French Pendules, Comtoises, Dutch Grand Father clocks, Bracket clocks, Carriage clocks and large watch bells. The clarity of these bells surpasses those that are usually used for orchestral bell trees and we’re proud to have remade and recorded them.
